"You play to WIN the game"

"You play to WIN the game!" - Herman Edwards

So I have a confession to make. It doesn't matter what it is, if it is something "for fun", competitive or even a simple board game, I HATE to lose. Period. I've always been like this for as long as I can remember. I can remember being 6 years old after hockey, slamming my stick down and wanting to get the hell out of there because I was so mad. I understand some people only play to have fun, and thats great, all the power to them, but I play to win - no matter what the sport or game it is. Quite a few years ago, Bobby Clarke, then the General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers tried to sign Ryan Kesler who was an restricted free agent at the time to a contract. It's always been an unwritten rule that you don't sign another player who is a restricted free agent. Anyways Dave Nonis, the GM at the time for Vancouver said "Bobby Clarke would kick his own grandmother down a flight of stairs if it gave him a better chance to win" *shyly raises my hand* me too!!

We lost our first football game yesterday, and I was, and still am beyond pissed off thinking of the things we did wrong and could and should have done. To many dropped passes, bad throws, and mistakes on defense. We did however also make some good plays on defense as well which was encouraging. We really need to get things going offensively though, which often seems to be the case for us. Hopefully we can get things going next game. Going back to how last years outdoor season was, losing as much as we did wears on you pretty quick, especially if you are someone like me who gets as mad as they do when you lose.

I've read the reports today that True North Sports and Entertainment has started to negotiate with the Atlanta Thrashers ownership group. With all the rumors and such that has been around for about a year and a half now, I`m personally done with this stuff. Let me know when Gary Bettman himself says Winnipeg is getting an NHL team again, then you will have my attention. I do want NHL hockey, but I`m just sick of Winnipeg being used as a bargaining chip in all of this when compared to joke markets like Phoenix and Atlanta. I am done with the circus.
